President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev called for stronger environmental awareness and higher standards for urban spaces, highlighting their importance for Kazakhstan’s tourism and investment appeal.

Speaking at the first session of the Kazakhstan Halyk Kenesi on September 24, 2026, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the importance of responsible attitudes toward the environment and public spaces.

According to the Head of State, many cities and villages across Kazakhstan are already becoming examples of environmental culture and public order. At the same time, he stressed the need to expand these positive practices to other areas.

“I believe it would be appropriate to toughen penalties for such anti-social and anti-state acts,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

The President also highlighted the importance of cleanliness for Kazakhstan’s tourism image:

“It is encouraging that many of our cities and villages are becoming examples of a high level of environmental culture and public order. Now we need to take measures so that, alongside our traditional advantages of hospitality and safety, cleanliness in all its forms becomes a national ‘brand’ of our country. Visitors arriving in our country are already noting the high quality of the urban environment, and this increases Kazakhstan’s tourism and investment appeal. However, we need to scale up these positive results,” the Head of State concluded.

In this context, improving environmental culture and urban spaces can be an important part of shaping Kazakhstan’s modern tourism image. Clean streets, public spaces and natural areas provide a more comfortable experience for travelers and contribute to a positive perception of the country.
