An information tour dedicated to exploring the tourism potential of the region was held in the Shet District on September 10–11. Over the course of two days, participants visited historical, archaeological, cultural and industrial sites, discovering places that remain relatively unknown to a wider audience.

The main objective of the tour was to explore the district’s tourism opportunities, identify promising attractions and consider new destinations that could form the basis of future tourist routes.

Shet District is a unique area where important chapters of history, rich cultural heritage, natural landscapes and traces of its industrial past come together. The information tour highlighted the diversity of the district’s tourism potential.

As part of the trip, participants visited the Taldy Historical and Archaeological Complex, which offers an opportunity to learn more about the ancient history of the region. The tour also included sites associated with prominent historical figures and events, including the Sazanbai Batyr Monument and the Agybai Batyr Mausoleum. These sites represent an important part of the district’s historical and cultural heritage.

Special attention was also given to sites connected with the industrial history of the region. Participants visited the ruins of the Sarysu Concentration Plant, exploring their significance in the industrial development of the area. Today, the site is of interest not only from a historical perspective but also as a potential element of future tourist routes dedicated to the region’s industrial heritage.

Another important part of the tour was discovering traditional culture. At the Ortау Ethno-Village, participants learned about the traditional lifestyle and cultural heritage of the Kazakh people. Such destinations can become an important component of ethnographic and educational tourism programs.

One of the most remarkable sites visited during the tour was the Shunak petroglyphs. These ancient rock carvings provide valuable evidence of the lives and worldview of people from past eras and represent an important part of the region’s historical and cultural heritage. Such archaeological sites have significant potential for the development of educational and cultural tourism.

Over the two days, participants explored Shet District from different perspectives — from ancient archaeological sites and historical monuments to places associated with prominent figures, traditional culture and the region’s industrial past.

Information tours of this kind make it possible not only to showcase existing attractions but also to identify lesser-known sites that could potentially become part of new tourist routes. Further development, improvement, interpretation and promotion of these sites could make tourism in Shet District more diverse and attractive to visitors.

The September 10–11 information tour was another important step toward showcasing the tourism potential of Shet District and presenting its rich historical and cultural heritage to a wider audience.
